Project 6: Poetry to the People

Your final project of the year sets before you this task:

Publicly share two poems by a chosen poet and two of your own original poems written in the style of that poet.

Key Dates:

• Poet and partners chosen -- March 5 (Academy of American Poets website for ideas)
• Form of public sharing chosen -- March 9
• Sharing in public forum completed -- March 15
• Presentations in class of how & what you shared and how it affected you -- March 19-22

Ideas for Sharing in a Public Forum:

• Film yourself sharing at school
• Film yourself sharing at a hospital or other care center
• Get published online;
• Create your own online forum (or share through the Poetry to the People Blog!)
• Get published in print (a newspaper, a newsletter, etc.)
• Let your creativity fly! 

Grading

• Your work will be graded on the following:
• Your presentation in class, in which you tell the audience about your poet's form of poetry, use of tone, imagery, figurative langugae, rhythm and rhyme.
• Your completion of your public sharing of at least four poems (two by your chosen poet, two written by you and your partner).
• Your discussion of how this project impacted you.
